Left on the 22nd for Seneca Co. Visited my friends there. Found them all in moderate health and much after the old fashion. Had a pleasant visit. Stayed in Upper Sandusky with Bro. Daniel over night upon my return. Seneca Co. has not made much improvement in the past five years. Returned home on Tuesday the 27"inst., found the family in moderate health. I contemplate leaving tomorrow for Nashville Tenn. Nothing very encouraging has developed itself. But, I stil hope for the best." on 29 March 1865 at Personal Journal Entry:.2,1 He Since my last record, I have been to Uppersandusky, and Connersville Ind. and also attended Franklin Presbytery. I Spent the first Sabath inst in Connersville Ind. Preached in the Second Presbyterian Church N.S. in the morning and at night. Tesct Act. 13.38. Connersville is a pleasant place and from appearances a pleasant place to live. Tuesday 5"inst attended Presbytery at Delhie Delaware Co Ohio. Returned home the 7" Found the familly moderately well."

I will endeaver here for my own gratification and those who in the future may have any interest in reviewing my life to give a brief sketch of my history up to the present, and continue from this time to note such events as may seam of interest and____to myself and others. I was borne in Fairfield Co Ohio, October 20" 1828. My parents moved to Seneca Co Ohio when I was quite young Perhaps when I was between the age of four and six. Up to that period I have but faint recolections. I remember of going to school, and several incidents that stil seams fresh in my memory. I may have been older that what is above stated. I have nothing very thrilling to record of the early part of my life. My Father was a minister in the Evangellical Association. And I feel to thank God that I can say He was a good man and full of the Holy Ghost and of Faith. He died at his post, while traveling a circuit in the State of Mich. I think in the A.D. 1853. My Mother is stil living is a professor of Religion and I believe a Christian. There were Ten children of us. Eight brothers and two Sisters. My oldest brother and youngest sister are dead. The rest of the familly as far as I know at present are stil living. When we first moved to Seneca Co. The county was new, and our advantages for education were poor. My first education received in Seneca Co. was in a log school House, and the way to it led through woods and swamps! My parrents not being in very good circumstances, and having a large fainilly to support, my education was necessary limited in my younger days, and when I grew up to manhood, I found myself to my great regret without an education. And being poor, and not feeling at that time the importance of a thorough education, I turned my attention to other matters and for several years after I became twenty one, I almost entirly neglected the cultivation of the mental faculties." on 11 September 1865 at Personal Journal Entry:, Reynoldsburg, Franklin, OH. He Preached on the Nicollet Island on Sabath Sept. 2nd 1866 at 5 Oclock p.m. St. Anthony Minn. Text The Heaven is my Throne.______ Left St. Anthony Monday eve Sept. 3rd for Ohio. Had some what a______and tedious journey, But reached home safely on Friday morning the 7"inst. Found the familly all in moderately good health. My rout home was St. Paul, Lacrves, Chicago, Cresline, Shelby. My health up to the present with but slight exception has been quite good. I think I am stil improving. My trip to Minnesota all things considered has been one of profit physically and mentally. Things in Shelby are much the same. Bro D.W.D is on Shelby work this year. The U.B. Conference held in this place was quite a success. All things seemed move of harmoniously. To God be all the praise for all these mercies. My future course though marked out, remains yet to be tested. May a kind Providence direct."

Information was received here yesterday announcing the sudden death at his home in Lancaster of Hon. John C. Tuthill. The deceased was librarian under Governor Campbell recently rendered his resignation to take affect Oct. 1. He was about fifty years of age. In October he was attacked by la grippe, from which he never fully recovered.
For the past two weeks he has been at the library a few days each week. When he left for his home last evening, Mr. Tuthill said he felt better than for several weeks, and the announcement of his death generated great surprise and general regret as he was popular with all who knew him.
Henry Keller, killed on the railroad Tuesday, was a special friend of Mr. Tuthill and the later was so wrought up over the accident when visiting the Cornors office here in the city to view the remains of his friend that it is thought this had something to do in hastening the death of the librarian. 21 May 1892.

I am the granddaughter of Fancheon Tuthill McIntyre. Fancheon was born in Lancaster, Ohio. She was the daughter of John Claspill Tuthill and the granddaughter of John Lambert Tuthill who lived from 1808 to 1892. He was active in politics and was State Librarian of Ohio in the 1890's. He came from the Long Island, New York area and was descended from Henry or John Tuthill who imigrated from England to Long Island in 1635. I have a number of newspaper clippings dealing with this branch of the family; a pamphlet from the 1800's and an oil painting of John Lambert Tuthill measuring 22'x27'. Anyone out there from this branch of the family? 24 Feb 2000.
