This
was Maryland's Colonial Census, From
1. Maryland Records; Colonial, Revolutionary, County and Church,
from Original Sources, Vol. 1, Gaius M. Brumbaugh (1915).
2. Maryland Records; Colonial, Revolutionary, County and Church, from Original
Sources, Vol. 2, Gaius M. Brumbaugh (1928).
*** Note: Neither of these sources is complete.
3. Ancestry.com's database Maryland Colonial Census, 1776 (available for
subscribers of their U.S. Records Collection).
Brumbaugh's volumes cover only portions of some Hundreds, but
it's value is that many of them are microfilm copies and transcriptions
showing the order of the families/plantations (Nantacoake is shown
alphabetically, while Straits and Transquakin seem to be transcribed
in dwelling order). The Hundreds of Dorchester County at this time
were Nantacoake, Straits, Transquakin, Great Choptank, Fishing
Creek, Little Choptank, Hermitage (Armitage) and Cambridge.
Ancestry.com's
database has much to be desired as it is not "readable".
The database is only searchable by name so one cannot "read" the
census to learn, for example, what order the families/plantations
were enumerated or what other family members are in the family.
Notes column is my research notes.
Unfortunately,
the famiy of Benjamin and Margere Moore are not identifield.

See
the
Dorchester Births and Marriages page. I cannot see a match
from them to any of these Dorchester families. Might Benjamin
and Margere be a part of one of these households? |

Note:
Ancestry.com's database does not show what Brumbaugh's volume
makes clear: that the 3 previous entries are the same household.
John Lee, age 21 and Sarah Dickson, age 11 are also in this
household. This family is probably Benjamin Moore
and Sarah LEE, daughter of John Seward Lee Sr. and Elizabeth
WATTS. |

shows them as Fredrick County, Unknown Hundred. |
