Kellenberger
and it's variants in the US Censuses
The following names (in the above shown states) are
those found in a soundex search at Ancestry.com. The search results
included spellings that were almost certainly not connected: only
close spellings, names sounding like Kellenberger or possible variants
of the original German are included.
Keep in mind that no Census databases are complete...there
are entire states missing from some censuses and many counties
missing from other states.
As I continue work on this page I will be adding
notes to each of these individuals...hopefully to identify them
all.
If you recognize any of these folks and would like
to help me with this project, please let
me know.
Currently the earliest known Kellenbergers to enter
the U. S. are:
1. George Adam Kellenberger (GAK),
b. c1745, m. c1766 Anna Maria _____, d. b1810? He immigrated from
Germany to Nova Scotia about 1749 then moved to Berks Co. PA about
1766.
and
2. Johannes (JK),
b. c1716, d. 1778, wife unknown. He arrived in Philadelphia 1752
on the ship Snow Ketty.
It appears that the next Kellenberger
to enter the U. S. was Peter (PK),
who came to Lancaster Co., PA 1801-1809.

Snyder AWT leads. There is a Jacob Kellenbarger Civil
War Veteran from the area. There is also a Jacob Kellenbarger
who was reported in the Lancaster Gazette May 1882 as celebrating
his 50th Anniversary. This may be the Jacob Kellenberger
who, in 1870, was in Toledo, OH (Lucas Co.) age 27 with wife
Emma and 8 month old son Bardy[?]. |
