     William Elder William's History states that this William was the Immigrant but this does not seem to be so.

Other problems with this source leave much to be desired. Information from it must be confirmed elsewhere, especially regarding the line of William Jr through his 2nd wife Jacoba Livers.³ He was born in 1707 at Prince George, MD.^4,2 He was the son of William Elder and Elizabeth Finch.² William Elder married Ann Wheeler circa 1728 at Charles, MD.^1,4,2 William Elder lived in 1732 at Carrick's Knob; St. Mary's Mount, Emmitsburg, Frederick, MD; gave the name of "St. Mary’s Mount" to a portion of Carrick’s Knob."^3,4 He lived in 1734 at "Pleasant Level"; He located at the foot of Blue Ridge in 1734, then the abode of numerous Indians and the haunt of wild beasts. He called his place "Pleasant Level." Here he built a house, reserving one room for religious services which he called a chapel. This room was equal in size to all the rest of his house. He was there joined by his family and a few friends from St. Mary’s County. Mr. Elder was a devout Catholic and his chapel was the home for all weary travelers, and a delightful resort for all professing his faith. Hospitality was religiously practiced by this good family and their descendants. The little congregation was taken care of by priests from St. Mary’s, and later from Conewago and Frederick, while sometimes Father Mathew Ryan, from Path Valley, Pa., visited them.³ He witnessed the death of Ann Wheeler on 11 August 1739 at cause of death; consumption, near future Thurmont, MD.^3,4,5 William Elder married Jacoba Clementina Livers in 1742; possibly 1 Feb 1743; source unknown. RJ.^4,2 William Elder left a will on 18 April 1773 at written.⁶ He died on 22 April 1775 at St. Mary's, MD; or 11 Apr.^1,4,7 He was buried after 22 April 1775 at Elder Family Cemetery, 1/2 mile s. of St. Mary's College, Frederick, MD; William's History cites legible birth and death dates on grave stone, with 1/2 mile s. of St. Mary's College.^3,4 He left a will on 23 May 1776 at executed.⁶

     Guy Elder Had 13 children with 2nd wife.⁴ He was born in 1732 at Frederick, MD.^4,2 He was the son of William Elder and Ann Wheeler.^1,2,3 Guy Elder married Eleanor Wickham circa 1756; date assumed.^4,5 Guy Elder witnessed the death of Eleanor Wickham circa 1758.⁵ Guy Elder died in 1805.²

     Her married name was Elder.¹ Eleanor Wickham married Guy Elder, son of William Elder and Ann Wheeler, circa 1756; date assumed.^1,2 Eleanor Wickham died circa 1758.²

     Judith Elder lived at KY.¹ She was born after 1760 at Frederick, MD.^1,2 She was the daughter of Guy Elder.¹
