Descendancy Narrative of Allen Barbour

 

 

 

I.  Allen BARBOUR1 married Jane HAUGHEY.1  He was The following persons being returned as Grand Jurors towit: Minitree Jones, George Ailsworth, Allen Barbour, William Cloud, Jabez Johnson, Francis Hail, Stephen Hail, Stephen Bourn, Benjamin Cooley, Peter Cooley, John Hash, Joshua Stoneman, John Dalton, John A. Gregg, Abraham Noblett and John Blevins, who being sworn received a charge from the court and retired to consider their presentments and after some time returned into court and having nothing to present were discharged

 

 in Oct 1810 at Grayson, VA.2  He was William Stone and William McKnight who were summoned to attend this term as Grand Jurors were solemnly called but came not. Therefore it is considered by the court that for their said contempt they severally make their fine with his Excellency James Barbour, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia by the payment of eight dollars each to the use of the said commonwealth unless they shew sufficient cause of their inability to attend at this or the next court.

 

Is Allen a relative of the Governor? RJ in Oct 1812 at Grayson, VA.2  He was Benjamin F. Cooley who was summoned to attend this term as Grand Juror was solemnly called but came not. Therefore it is considered by the court that for his said contempt they severally make their fine with his Excellency James Barbour, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia and his successors by the payment of eight dollars each to the use of the said commonwealth unless they shew sufficient cause of their inability to attend at this or the next court

B.  Thomas Chatman BARBOUR4,1,1 was also known as Thomas James Chatman.5  He was Enlisted as private in 183rd, later transferred to Co. A, 173rd Ohio as Corporal.  Discharged as Corporal at 183rd and 173rd Ohio Infantry.1  He was born in 1833 at Grayson, VA.1  He married Elizabeth Jane MOORE, daughter of Rev. Amos (Isaac Amos) MOORE and Rebecca Ann (Ann Rebecca) WALK, in 1861 at Fayette Twp, Lawrence, OH.5,1  He and Elizabeth Jane MOORE Likely Census Match; two doors down from Elizabeth's brother Isaac, his wife Josephine and family.
