Orville Hanks witnessed the will of Joshua Hanks on 17 February 1854 at Carroll, VA; I Joshua Hanks of Carroll County Va do make this and no other to be my Last will and Testatment revoking all former wills, or codicils by me in any wise make rectifying and confirming this and no other. First I give unto my son William Hanks, one Dollar and no more for believing as I do that I have already givin to his two sons Franklin and Sylvanus as much as I had to give to my other legatees. Secondly I give to my four Grandsons namely Martin, Creed, Friel & Orval, all my four hundred and 30 acre tract of land lying in the county of Carroll and state of Virginia that has not been already disposed of to be equally divided between them and their Heirs forever. Thirdly I give to my daughters herein after named all the rest of my Estate both Real and personal of every description whatsoever, namely, Mary Cooley, Nancy Moore, Lydia Moore, Rhoda Moore, Patience Davis, Thursey Mallory, Ruth Vaughan, Susan Mooney, to them and their heirs forever to be Equally Divided. And Lastly I do constitute and appoint my friend James D. Cooley my Executor of this my last will and Testament. Signed Sealed and acknowledged in the presints of us

Isaac Moore was born on 28 November 1831.1 He was the son of James Moore and Lydia Hanks.1 Isaac Moore was a witness when James Moore and Lydia Hanks were Moved from Grayson VA to 'the Cherokee Purchase' in GA. circa 1843. Isaac Moore and Elizabeth Caroline Barton lived between 1853 and 1855 at GA. Isaac Moore married Elizabeth Caroline Barton, daughter of Joseph Barton and Morning Cannon, on 27 January 1853 at GA.1 Isaac Moore and Elizabeth Caroline Barton lived between 1856 and 1862 at Marshall, AL.1 Isaac Moore began military service in 1862 enlisted in 4th Alabama Cavalry.1 He was Among others he participated in the battles of Nashville, Parker's Cross Roads, Racine, Strawberry Plains, and at the last named was wounded in the right shoulder. While serving on detail duty he was captured and taken as a prisoner of war to Camp Chase, in Ohio, where he was confined for nine months and 20 days, or until the close of the war. circa 1864.1 He and Elizabeth Caroline Barton lived between 1865 and 1869 at Marshall, AL.1 Isaac Moore lived between 1869 and 1916 at Hood, TX. He died on 17 October 1916 at Hood, TX, at age 84.1
